Anxiety

by Weeping Willow   Apr 7, 2023

I’ve never written about you
Because I’ve always felt like
If I brought you to life
You’d be more tangible
But alas, you live in my chest regardless
My stomach as well

You know you just think you’re hot stuff
You have an X in your name
So I’m assuming you think
You’re exotic or something
I bet that’s how you get all the girls

Anxiety
I’ll say it
Maybe three times just to
Make you appear
I understand you think you’re
Doing your job
Keeping me alive and all
But could you be slightly less
Type A?

Let me live a little
Maybe only rewrite the text
3 times instead of 5
Go on a bike ride
Without a headwind and a chance
Of existential dread
Could I perhaps sit on my couch
And be present for the show I’m watching?

Anxiety I know you’ve got roots
Evolution and all
But as you see there are no predators
Of which we need to run from
This is merely a woman
Sat across from you at a restaurant

You’re ruining the mood Anxiety
And I have plans
Big dreams that you are squashing
You make everything so much harder
Than it has to be

Imagine all the things I could do
If you weren’t in the way?
