Is it a choice

by Megan Chapman   Aug 18, 2023

Is it a choice,
To allow the winds of other’s storms
Ruffle your own hard won peace?
Or, can you,
By taking the tiller of
your own boat
And steering into calmer waters,
Show them,
If they have eyes to see,
Ears to hear,
And an open heart,
That it’s possible,
That it is a choice.

Strong message to put one to think, even if the reader doesn't know much about the elements that you used to create the metaphors - myself included. By the way, it reminded me right away of the message transmitted in many lines of the poem Sportcruiser by Lana Del Rey.

Thank you Eros, both for your comment here and, for putting me onto Lana Del Rey's fabulous poem!

Some strong metaphors here, Megan. I am going to hazard that you ask a rhetorical question here because, to me, it certainly is a choice. The imagery you provide seems to make that choice a whole lot easier too: just take hold of those oars, and row to calmer waters.
    Great work
