A Valuable Lesson

by Walter   Aug 22, 2023

Since she was born, she was raised to succeed
Where both of her parents would always exceed
They taught her from birth; she couldn't feel frail
There'd be no excuse, if she was to fail

When starting school, she was pushed for high grades
It wasn't a choice when her parents persuade
She would be punished if marks came back low
Until perfection was all that she'd know

She missed out on childhood, and friends would not last
This determination made her an outcast
When during high school she won all awards
For the successful future, she's travelling towards

Then university, the best in the state
Praise was received and grades were first-rate
When graduating she deserved the applause
But little she knew, of all her flaws

She got a great job, and her income was high
Bought her first home and easily got by
But when living alone, it now struck a chord
That socially her life, had been ignored

So true love for her did not have a chance
When she'd meet a guy, in search for romance
Her high expectations, she would resort
And hence every one, would always fall short

Too blind for her heart, to ever know why
Failed for the first time, she needed to cry
A lesson not learnt and why her heart aches
That just as with life...we learn from mistakes
