Like Elijah

by El_Mabini   Sep 30, 2023

Like Elijah the prophet, you seem.
Upholding the beacon of God's wisdom.
Spreading its radiant beam,
For the humanity to fathom.

You must be really like Elijah.
A man of faith and humbleness,
With a heart of glimmering gold.
Reminding me of His love that never gets old.

Clueless you are of my pride.
To the hope you have gave me,
when I cared less of humanity's fate,
And let them be with their idols and falacies.

God sent, you really are.
Given the purpose of saving one's fate,
From confiding in lucifer's bait,
And to test my loyalty to His name.

Now ask me not,
The most cliche question
Why to admire you was real.
And to be with you was a dream.

Though, hopeful I am,
That if you drift away with the wind,
To another place, to another life,
You'll find the eternal love reserved by Him.

The life He weaved for us may differ.
Still, I'll roam the earth following your steps.
Your efforts will not be put in vain
and your name will have its place in my heart,

Just like Elijah, you'll be my favorite story.
Who'll always rekindle the fire in my soul.
Like Elisha, you're a guiding light I'll follow
Amidst the darkening days of His son's coming.

A good tribute to Elijah, the Prophet, and to the person whom this poem is written about, who appears just like Elijah to you. I really enjoyed reading it, although his story is not really my favorite in the Bible.

Last stanza, third line... Is it a typo? Elisah, instead of Elijah? Or you must be referring to Elisha, Elijah's successor?

Thank you for reading and taking time to thoroughly analyze my poem. It is a typo. I seemed to overlooked it before uploading. It was suppose to be Elisha. My apologies haha. Again thank you.
PS. The man to whom I dedicated this poem was a soon-to-be graduate from ministry. Also, my poem, "I see Solomon" was dedicated to this man who was training to be a minister.
