Smile

A sight I hoped I’d never see,
And there he is staring back at me!
I have battled through strife
And struggled through daily life
Trying to be strong and keep going on
But never speaking out to anyone!

A sight I hoped I’d never see,
And there he is staring back at me!
I reached for my dreams
But my insecurities burst through the seams
I wanted to succeed
But my heart began to bleed

A sight I hoped I’d never see
And there he is staring back at me!
My wife would ask me everything alright,
And quick as a flash I would say yeah of course and turn of the light,
She can tell I’m not being straight,
But I have no option I have to bottle it up and…and try to create

A sight I hoped I’d never see
And there he is staring back at me
The tears down my cheeks
Wiped away before the little one peeks
‘Everything alright? you’ve been in there for a while?’
Of course son, just brushing my smile.

    ' A smile is the best way to get oneself out of a tight spot, even if it is a fake one.'

    Sometimes, we need to be strong for our loved ones, and we don't want to let them down. But there's also comfort in vulnerability. Hopefully, you'll do just fine in times you need to fake smile, you have a genuine smile, or when you want them to see your worries. Take care always.
