Haze Gray and Underway

by Randy Lee   Dec 2, 2023

Haze gray and underway,
Never too long will I stay.

Sailing in seas, at times so calm,
The horizon shows tomorrow's dawn.

Yet other times the waters can rage.
My passing will surly not come from old age.

When those a sailor calls upon take heed,
That sailor can be lucky in times of need.

As the next port comes into sight,
You remember promising to follow the light.

Yet promises are soon to be broken.
The rum is so fine and cost but a token.

Here before you must have been,
The barmaid seems to share your zen.

The night is filled with love and intoxication,
With the dawn comes a new destination.

Haze gray and underway,
Never too long will I stay.
