White Petals (edited)

by BOB GALLO   Jan 5, 2024

These forlorn daffodils
talk about the whiteness of your bones,

from the whiteness
beneath the painted canvases,
from the whiteness
which is cracking and withering
like paint
on a clandestine
Rembrandt masterpiece.

They pale, crack and fall,
and you will wilt
from within
in your white bones' petioles.
