When You Can't Go On

by S. Van Dyke   May 1, 2024

Look out the window
Count each little star
Slow your breathing
Close your eyes
Count to ten
Count to a hundred
Go for a walk
Take in the scene
Smell the flowers
Touch the petals
Listen to the birds
Hear their song
Embrace some lyrics
Dance to a beat
Put pen to paper
Find a new favorite book
Let out some tears
Cuddle with a stuffed animal
Attain a new best friend
One with two legs or four
Rediscover an old one
Talk to someone, anyone
Talk to yourself
Cook a masterpiece
Cook a disaster
Paint a work of art
Or just fingerpaint
Pull out the yoga mat
Go to a gym
See if you have a green thumb
Or if you are a seamstress
Attend a movie
Watch an old favorite
Play a video game
Discover a new hobby
String together a piece of jewelry
Cross your legs and meditate
Try a new hairstyle
Get a tattoo
Start a blog
Write in a journal
It’s hard; I understand,
Believe me I’ve been there
But it’s so worth it
So do something,
Anything
When you feel you can’t go on…
