& then, there was you

by Guilty By Design   Jul 6, 2025

I thought love was a language
I’d forgotten how to speak,
just echoes in an empty room,
a promise I could never keep.

I wore my pain like armor,
called it strength, called it truth.
I didn’t think I’d feel again
and then, there was you.

You came like quiet thunder,
soft, but breaking through.
Touched the parts I buried deep
and called them something new.

Now I’m burning just to see you,
craving every glance.
Obsessed in ways I feared were gone,
a terrifying, unexpected chance.

No, you didn’t fix me
but next to you, somehow,
the broken parts don’t echo
quite as loudly now.
