The Suit

by Cantchangeme   Dec 15, 2025

In winter’s hush, in darkness deep
A shadow snatched away his light
His quiet taken, replaced with noise
No longer gifted a silent night

Now cloaked in borrowed red,
To a different carol he walks this way
A fractured soul, in the skin of a saint
Who hears the “naughty” things they say

He sees the intent behind the tongue
He knows this one won’t be missed
And in his mind the sleigh bells ring
As he adds another name to his list

Between the sins and sacred vows
His heart still aches to be made whole
A kid who wanted warmth and peace
Now taken up a much colder role

As snow keeps falling, pure, unblamed
Footprints fade into the storm
A ghost of faith and fury’s union
Where love and horror share one form
