The water near my feet is still
There's not a ripple or a splash
Ducks glide seamlessly through
As if they're not even touching the water
It's all as still as my heart without you.
Yet, to my right is the fountain
In all of its majesty, spraying
The ripples all circle and spread
As the water cascades in itself and dances
Like my heart pumping out, your name it said.
And the trees all around me remind
Of the times I couldn't see the woods for them
And I would lay next to you, dead
Not running to you through them.
And like the duck with its feet paddling at such pace
Majestic takes energy and we've no time to waste.
This park is now our park
A place of beauty where my beauty should be
Walking along or sitting on the grass
As long as my beauty is next to me
For she is the most beautiful thing that I see.
