Engraved Upon My Soul

by The Fallen Angel   Aug 3, 2026

Sleepless nights have become my oldest companions,
while racing thoughts rehearse your name
until dawn forgets the stars.

The memories still linger—
not faded by time,
but alive,
as though they happened only yesterday.
Every smile, every glance, every unspoken word
returns to me with a tenderness
that refuses to leave.

The thought of losing you
is a language my heart cannot learn.
It is too vast, too impossible,
too cruel to imagine.

You were the calm to my chaos,
the silence to my storm,
the place where every restless part of me
finally knew what peace felt like.

All I ever wanted was you.

It has been far too long
since I last saw you,
held your hand,
heard your voice,
or simply existed in the same moment as you.
Yet my heart has never learned to rest;
it keeps searching every crowd,
every season,
every tomorrow,
hoping that somehow it will find you again.

I know you are not mine to keep.
Some souls are meant to be loved
without ever being possessed.

But your name has been engraved upon my soul,
where neither distance nor time
can soften its echo.

So I live with hope—
not the loud kind that demands miracles,
but the quiet kind that survives every lonely night.

And if fate is kind,
perhaps one ordinary day
our paths will cross once more.

Until then,
I will carry you
like a prayer whispered beneath every breath—
unseen, unwavering,
and forever home within me.
