Goodbye

by Jackie Bilson   Jul 22, 2004

Growing up is involuntary,
Sometimes you just need to fly.
It's my turn to do some growing up,
It's my turn to say goodbye.

Goodbye Corinne but thank you,
Thanks for making it clear,
That true friendships were with those you trust,
Not the people you fear.

Goodbye Lisa but thank you,
For showing me I can be strong,
Strong enough to face my closest friend,
To show you that you were wrong.

Finally, goodbye Paul,
With you there's a lot more to say,
Thank you for showing me true love,
And how to live when it went away.

Thank you for treating me like a princess,
Thank you for my first kiss,
I thought we'd live a fairytale,
But fairytale is exactly what this is.

I'm sorry we didn't work out,
I'd be someone different if it wasn't for you.
Thank you for teaching me the hard way,
What love can make you do.

Goodbye to you all, you've shaped my life,
In more ways than you know,
But now it's time to forget my past,
It's time to let you go.
