The Rose

by Tina   Aug 3, 2004

The day before my birthday there was a delivery at the door,
A rose for Tina Thomas he said but didn't say anything more.
I took it to the couch were I was sitting and opened the little note,
A smile came across my face when I read what it wrote.
It said a very simple phrase and its what I needed to hear,
It brought a smile to my face but in my eye there was a tear.
I didn't know who sent it but my mom said it was a sign,
A simple reminder from someone who knew that I wasn't always fine.
The next day at my party we watched the movie Thirteen,
It showed of drinking drugs and cutting things that parents haven't seen.
After it was over my friend took me aside,
Tina there is something I want you to know, a secret I want to confide.
The rose you got yesterday was from me and my cousin Doug,
Tears approached my eyes as I gave her a great big hug.
I told him about your depression and how you cut sometimes,
About all the hurt you've been put through and how your not always fine.
I told her thank you and started to cry for the reminder that I read.
For on that little note I opened Jesus Loves You was all it said.
