The Devil is Dealing

by Timothy   Aug 4, 2004

You are a high stakes gambler and the gamble is your life,
You will take no advice from doctor, friend, or wife;
Attempted Russian Roulette once or twice,
Risking it all with a single roll of the dice.

Last night it was a game with formidable foes,
Meth and Coke, 200 dollars up your nose;
Alcohol had a hand you could not beat,
You were puking again, out in the street.

Last week you were in a knife fight,
Those odds were just not right;
38 stitches to your face,
Once again, your horse came in last place.

AIDS is waiting for a spin of the wheel,
When someone close has appeal;
You have visited the neighbor's spouse,
A dozen other men have visited her house.

Carcogenics are not bluffing when holding aces high,
It's one shot in a million, but you are giving it a try;
You aren't a spectator, your bet isn't free,
The doggies are coming around the track, take heed!

Diet pills replace nearly every meal,
Your reflection has no appeal;
Your luck, it certainly varies,
One...Two...but not THREE cherries.

The Big Man always has His royal faces,
The three of you are at the table, and your out of aces;
You know you should be kneeling,
But your too proud...and the Devil is dealing.
