The Dragon with the Sword in His Heart

by Timothy   Aug 4, 2004

A dragon is a creature considered cruel,
A hideous monster, hated and hounded;
His anger radiates from unjust persecution,
When he rages, the people question his reasons.

A dragon is a vile beast, considered by most,
A wicked animal, mocked and ridiculed;
His sadness emanates from lost causes,
When he screams to the night, the people gape.

A dragon is a living being, NOT considered by many,
A wise, yet, sometimes foolish behemoth;
His heart thrust with the Sword of Strife, yet he lives,
He lives, but his heart grows cold and callous around it.

(Footnote: Much of this poem came to me in a half-awake/ half-asleep state awhile back.)
