Grandma

by Sherry Lynn   Aug 15, 2004

An angel came today,
She held my hand,
And told me that everything
Will be ok.

She wiped the tears,
That I cried for you,
As I bowed my head,
And said my prayers.

I asked God not to take you,
Then I asked that He do what’s best,
All I want grandma,
Is for you to have rest.

I remember the days,
From my youth,
And every memory I have,
Somehow involves you.

I remember the snake,
The one out back,
And oh how I screamed,
I thought that you were going to freak!

You jumped on grandpa,
As I jerked him towards me,
The poor man lost his crutch,
As he tried to comfort
Both you and me.

Its memories like these,
That continue to remind me,
What a gift you are
For the whole world to see.

We’ve had are fights,
We’ve cried our tears,
We’ve had our laughs,
And even our fears.

Everyone one of those moments,
That we have shared,
Have brought us closer together,
And yes, I’m glad you were there.

Come Heaven or earth,
Far or near,
No matter what grandma,
You’ll always be here.

If today you depart,
You’ll take with you,
A piece of our heart.

Though tears we’ll shed,
From the pain we’ll feel.
We’ll all understand,
That you needed your rest.

If you go,
I ask you go in peace,
I ask that you tell God,
To comfort our family.
Cause He’ll truly have,
The best angel there can be.
