Early Pioneers

by Chris   Aug 15, 2004

It seems originality is unnecessary
The common man cannot cope
It seems creativity is a waste
When it’s far beyond his scope
He is very easy to satisfy
His pleasure is easy to sake
When expressions are familiar
With phrases he can relate
This annoys me intensely
As I’m sure you can see
It paves yet hinders progress
It stifles novelty
So where is the encouragement
For trail-blazers like us
Why should we make an effort
If nobody else is fussed
Lets just throw in the towel
Surrender and imitate
Our efforts are not appreciated
Such is the artist’s fate
But time will do us favours
Time will mature our peers
One day we’ll be acknowledged
As the early pioneers

Many you see written, where it's bold to be cold, stolid against the politics that have become common....and that's where you're roots of diversion stem.
When it's finally cool to rebel after your cause has simply become desersion but not for lack of intelligence, but rather initiative to know your opinion better.
In a nutshell, you made me think ;) Seems we've moved each other.

This is really good! I know what you mean. It seems everybody just goes with the flow of things these days. try as hard as possible not to do that, and so far whatever I'm doing seems to be working. thank you for your comments on my poems!! :-)
