I Turned (You Weren't There)

by Lipton   Aug 23, 2004

I was always here to help you,
To guide you when you're down.
I remembered the sound of your voice,
And the joy it brought be to listen.
I turned to hear you, but you weren't there.

Your smile kept me happy,
Your frown showed me what was wrong.
I remember the look in your eyes, That showed our unbreakable bond.
I turned to look at you, but you weren't there.

Your ears were always open,
To listen to my hurts.
I remember the look of intent,
That showed that you cared.
I turned to speak to you, but you weren't there.

Your caring touch, that stitched my wounds,
Will never leave my mind.
I remember your bracing arms,
That held me when I fell.
I turned to hold you, but you weren't there.

You've left imprints in my heart,
That can never be filled.
I remember you,
And the love we shared.
I turned to love you, but you weren't there.
