My Letter

I am attempting to write you a letter
But I am lost for words to say
It’s so hard when I can’t see you
When I want to each single day.
I wonder just what you are doing
When I’m lying in bed late at night
Though I have so many questions
For some reason they are so difficult to write.
So it is with this bizarre dilemma
I find myself writing yet another poem
A poem about how I can’t find the words for my letter
While I’m thinking about you at home alone.
I just find it so painfully hard
That you are not here when I need you the most
Always such a time and distance away
When all I want is for you too hold me close.
Though the very many weeks and miles
May occasionally keep us separated and apart
I’ll always save a quiet thought for you
With which there is a smile within my heart.
It cuts me so much deeper
Too see you and then have to let you go
Are these the words I intended to say in my letter
In reality I just don’t know.
I long to have you with and near me
I’m in writhing agony for your touch
I miss more than anything waking up next to you
Little moments that mean very much.
My tears can’t help but fall
Each time I have to step back on that plane
Knowing that in a week or two
I’ll be putting myself through that again.
But I can’t write this in my letter
I find it so intense and hard to say
I hate showing any sign of weakness
I don’t want you to see me this way.
Cause more than anything in this world
I love the precious time we share together
I guess maybe I have found just a few words
For me to write in my letter…
