That Night

Sitting by myself
I recall that day
The day my mom told me
That day in may
She said dad wont be here no more
But its not your fault
That is the day
My world stopped with a halt
See my parents were splitting
And us kids weren't to blame
But I couldn't help myself
All I thought of was shame
Shame on my mother
For cheating like she did
Shame on my mother
For hurting dad like she did
Shame on my mother
For leaving us at night
Shame on my mother
For leaving me in fright
Afraid that I had lost all that was dear to me
Afraid that my dad...I would not see
But after a while
I did see my dad
And really all it was
Was a nightmare I had
So a new year soon comes
With my world more brightened
But I still can't forget
That night I was so frightened
