If ever darkness covered light
if i ever had to put up a fight
if my eyes welled up with tears of pain,
if i was left out in the rain,
you were there.
if you did ever see me frown,
if i was ever feeling down,
if i was having troubles at home,
if anyone left me all alone,
you were there.
if my heart was breaking on the inside,
if the real me had to hide,
if all i wanted to do was die,
if i was running out of tears to cry,
you were there.
when nothing ever seemed to go right,
when i would cry myself to sleep at night,
when life wasn't worth living at all,
when my heart would brake and i would fall,
you were there.
then something happened that changed you forever,
and we're no longer here together,
something pushed us further apart,
and something broke my heart.
i still don't know what went wrong,
all i know is that i became less strong,
and suddenly life wasn't fair
suddenly you weren't there.
