No

by Megan Scaggs   Sep 6, 2004

It was last call for alcohol
And the dancing was done.
When he asked me if I wanted
To go and have some fun.

He told me he could show me
The best time of my life.
I looked him in the eye and asked:
“Would I then be your wife?”

He wanted just to skip that part,
Get to the honeymoon.
Why all this talk of marriage,
When clearly it’s too soon.

He told me we should have some fun,
And see what we’re about.
Maybe then we'd fall in love,
And marriage could work out.

I said I’m not that kind of girl,
That’s not enough you see.
You need to show me more respect,
If you want to be with me.

I’m better than a one night stand,
Or trophy on your wall.
And if that is all there is to you,
You won't be with me at all.

If sex is all you really want,
And you won't compromise,
Then find yourself a prostitute,
So you can improvise.

I want a man with character,
Who has integrity.
Who will treat me like a lady,
And think the world of me.

You thought I was a party girl,
You'd have me from hello,
But if that’s all you want from me,
I’ll have to tell you NO!
