An angel in disguise

Only 4 feet tall
with big brown eyes
something like that
comes as surprise
when you find out
just what she goes thru

daddy's home late
almost every night
momma is gone
they had a big fight
and she's hungry
those big brown eyes, they cry

this angel on earth
sent from above
eyes full of tears
and a heart full of love
oh how she wonders
when it all will end

when he gets home from work
hes drunk and mean
hands over her ears
to muffle the screams
as she suffers
she hears his laugh so cold

on her first day of school
her hair's done just so
a blond ponytail
tied with a pink bow
no one ever guessed
just what she went thru

one night when daddy
came thru the door
he tripped over her shoe
and hit the floor
and he grabbed her
and no one heard her scream

a cute little girl
barely 4 feet tall
a heart so pure
suffered it all
and it killed her
her big brown eyes shut tight

as they buried the coffin
up from above
flying in circles
was a pure snow white dove

they might have been crazy
or maybe they lied
but they told me
they saw a tear drop
from it's eye

that girl was so perfect
with her big brown eyes
barely 4 feet tall
an angel in disguise.
