The price of your love

by joe   Oct 6, 2004

As your eyes begins to swell
I'm frisked and removed of my items

Your bleeding stops, you can see again
I am read my rights

Your bruises appear
My wrist are bound by steel

Your crying starts again
I'm placed in the back of a car and taken away with the night

You stand before your mother
I stand before a judge

She asks what happened
as you begin to cry you tell my story

He asks me "where were you that night?"
I respond "I was at my girlfriends house"

He asks another question "I know how she got those black and blue's, i know why she is crying, i know why she has blood stains on her shirt......
how do you plead?"

I see the marks, i see the blood, i see the tears, i see your red eyes and respond
"GUILTY"

"Very well" he says, "death row, is your life now"

I swallow my pride and respond "I'm sorry i wont be there when those pains heal, I'm sorry i wont be there anymore. He did what he did, and i did what i did, he was laid in the ground and i washed the blood off my hands. I'm in this court now because of love. I promised no matter what i would protect you, i wasn't there that night i couldn't protect you. That night my soul perished i was relentless in his death
He raped you of your purity,
I raped him of his life
He smiled as you cried
I laughed as he died
Your love is still my life
NO man, NO punishment, NO time
can take that away from me"

Your love came at the price of my life

As i sit in my cell,
you sit in church
In a week ill be in the ground
and you'll be fighting the knife and barrel and this time i wont be there to stand in front of you

I wanted to be your everything
but now I'm #519763 in this hell hole
but i do not regret my actions
I only regret not being the one who kisses you good night

Your love came at the price of my life and I would gladly pay it a thousand times over again
