October

The cold air catches in her lungs with every sharp breath she draws. like your words, the wind is vicious as it slashes at every inch of her frailty. clinging to her, she is enveloped in cold and darkness, hardening her heart. fallen like the leaves surrounding her footsteps she wanders down her path of loneliness. only her shadow walks beside her for she has been separated from those she once could count on. a momentary smile flickers across her distressed face as she recalls the distant memories of only a short time ago. slightly blurred they slowly begin to focus, bringing with them feelings of a warmer time. for the moment she can feel the warm breeze of summer upon her, protecting and holding her closer, wrapping her in the moments she now holds only in her mind. but as summer fades to fall the cold sets in bringing with it the fresh sting of new changes and new tortures. blinking at the raw hint of old tears she can feel the unforgetful reminder of her heartache. you don't know pain until you'vebeen betrayed by those you've held closest.
