A Benighted Empire

In the twilight of a new dawn
A fallen empire revealed
The iniquity truly gone
Inevitable its fate sealed

The dawn of the new order came
Giving us everlasting trust
Inside us an eternal flame
A symbol for all that was just

Oblivion fell on the past
While malign forces grew stronger
The empire was unsurpassed
It just could advance no longer

One more benighted empire
Would soon follow this empire

    Thank you. I also think this one is my best one so far. I've followed a certain writing pattern also known as a sonett :-p, and I think the outcome was satisfying.
