The Eyes Of A Child

I Know This Is Really Long, But You Should Really Read It...

Calmly in the night
she sat in the room
staring at a picture
tears stream down her face
an expression of nothingness
the night before
she was with him
sitting in his room
feeling his pain
but she sat there in silence
and felt so naive
she was empty inside
he was fulfilling his nightmare
unaware of his fate
he lived a lie
and she was the truth
still she was by his side
and he was there for her
love and hate combined
to stir in a grave
so deep in a dream
that was never real
down an empty path
made just for fantasies
ones in which would turn
on each other . . .
and collapse . . . to realize
that he was the truth
she could not bear
and she was the lie
he could not escape
yet still they struggled
up to the end . . .
to grow on each other
feeding off each other
feeling for each other
and fighting one another
sitting heartbroken
in the darkened abyss . . .

She got up and left
leaving him behind
she was calm and grateful
to have him by her side
but she was unaware
of what she would find
from the darkness or his past
controlling his thoughts
controlling his actions
controlling his mind . . .
his childless innocence
gripping at his soul
lingering closely
yet watching from afar . . .
during the night she awoke
from a deep disturbing dream
he was screaming in his bed
thrashing wildly to control the pain
she stumbled out of bed
to reach for the light
he got up tripping
and reached for a knife . . .
she picked up the phone
and started dialing
as he picked up the knife
and started slicing
slowly and slowly
to release the pain
to release the blood
that was within
tears filled her eyes
as there came no reply
from the other side . . .
she quietly left her room
walking through the door
escaping the prison
of her sheltered mind
and heart . . .

A blood-stained hand held on
to a picture from the past
the knife had fallen
away from the other
on the black sheets
down below . . .
she picked up her steps
running as she could
to be with the one she loved
in his arms once more
before time ran out
for the both of them . . .
clouds filled the sky
blinding the moon
as he was silent all the while
an empty stare in his eyes
an empty expression on his face
a deep hollowness in his soul
She reached his house
running down to his room
finding the door locked
and pounded in vain
there was no answer
and there was no sound
except for her tears
and her unsilenced heart
she reached under her
in the hole on the ground
looking for the key
keeping them apart
she slipped it in
and slowly turned the nob
opening the door
pushing it apart
and silence rushed out
as haunting as death
the rain started to fall
and her screams
started to grow . . .

She reached for the knife
his blood now dried upon it
and positioned it on her wrist
slowly moving down
her blood mixing with his
to be together once more
to feel his love now dead
the vibe that had finally ceased
from the lifeless soul
of the lifeless body
hanging from the chord . . .
she moved the knife up
toward her heart
unable to bear
the pain that was wrought
to both of them
to him and her
together as one
now separated by the veil
as black as night
as black as her pain
as black as her tears
but stopped by the sight
of a picture in his hand
she reached for it
and took it out . . . a silence
and a sudden peace
as haunting as the silence
began to form
began to clear her mind
and all her thoughts
as she stared down
at the both of them
with a third person between them
in his and her arms
his and her flesh and blood
together as one
as was on the knife . . .
a small life to rise forth
into the world . . .

He was not completely gone
and she was not completely alone
as his love still burned forth
not in her alone
but in the hearts
and minds of them both
calmly in the night
as the rain was pouring
voices around her
bringing him down
into the ground . . .
she sat in his room
and in his bed
staring at a picture
black tears dry on her face
in her eyes . . . in silence
as his calm voice
flooded her mind
piercing her fears
bringing back an expression
of their togetherness
through the eyes
of their daughter . . .
