The day I said Good bye

I am sorry I had to leave you
crying in despair.
I cannot be there to watch what you do,
and I know that is not fair.

I wish today was yesterday,
never anything more.
I just want to be there everyday,
not seeing your heart torn.

I never wanted it to end like this.
I must let you know...
They came to take me to my happiness,
and told me I had to go.

As I neared the gates of heaven,
a tear slipped from my eye.
I thought about what happened...
How I had to say goodbye.

I do not want you to wake up
with tear filled eyes for me.
Knowing the days will go on forever...
and we can never be.

I only want to come back,
and see your loving smile.
Knowing all our memories
are what made life worthwhile.

I do know what will replace me
are those memories and sorrow.
Please, be glad I am free,
and that you will have a tomorrow.

Just know I am in a better place,
and I hate how time flew.
