A Last Letter

Dear Mother,

As I lay here gasping for air
My senses numbing, become cold and unaware
I write to tell you I did fight brave
Fought for the Iraqi people we are trying to save
Fighting for the colors of red, white, and blue
It was hard to keep going but I always stayed true
I fought for freedom, and earned my keep
Even though I know this letter will only make you weep
I'm afraid I wont see you, ever again
I'll burn in hell for killing innocent men
Fighting in this war has showed me the true meaning of living
We shouldn't be hateful, but kind and giving
This war has no purpose, no meaning at all
There are sneak attacks where most of us men fall
So Mother this is it, the end of me and my crew
I just want to tell you that, I will always love you
