Untitled {sonnet}

by Lil Luce   Nov 11, 2004

Sorry can't think of a title.........it is a sonnet but the lines are quite long so they have drifted onto another line

I tried to play hard to get but surrendered to your charms,
The sweet gentle embrace as you held me in your arms.
You'd make me coffee in the mornings and run my baths at night,
Yet you weren't there when I needed you and so it'd cause a fight.
Although it started verbal, the pain you put me through,
AS you bellowed out your hatred of what you thought was true.
The next day the usual, clinking of coffee mugs,
The apologies I'd heard before on my heart strings you would tug.
As time flew by your temper grew and I depended on mates,
To avoid the raging rows and the angry smashing of plates.
Your love was like the ocean waiting to be explored,
The calm, gentle tide and the familiar raging storms.
I decided not to carry on, to hope, to change, to strive.
Who says romance was dead?It never was alive.
