We met at track practice
When we were in middle school
He thought I was adorable
I thought he was cool.

We became close friends
Although a year seperated our age
But our friendship is like an endless story
And every day is a different page.

I never would've guessed
That as different as we are
Our unique friendship
Could've gotten this far.

My boyfriend is unaware
That we have a secret handshake
What he doesn't know can't make him jealous

No one knows how close we really are
They wouldn't know the feeling

We could easily be siblings
But everyone says what I cute couple we'd make
They say it's cute how our names rhyme
"Kate and Jake"

But I consider him family
It would be strange
To go out with him
And I don't want anything between us to change.

He was the only one who cheered me up
When my boyfriend told me a lie
And he was the one who talked to me
And told me that he had a shoulder on which I could cry.

He is there for me
To brighten my day
When everyone else
Just doesn't know what to say.

I'm his confidante
He's my partner in crime
We keep growing closer
With the passing of time.

I think of him as my big brother
And count on him from the moment I awake
To be there for me
Because he's my Jake.
