Darkly Distant Proximity (Winter 1989)

by FTS Miles   Nov 18, 2004

[Another old poem dusted off for, hopefully, your viewing pleasure.]

Oh darkly distant proximity
Love's warmth in absent cold.
Glassy essence shows not all
Of what we truly are.

Bygone eras of undaunted love
Have no form in Present life.
Only dreams lend matter
To the emotions of illusion.

Light shadows in the night
Flicker softly 'pon the mind;
Ethereal caresses thrum soothingly
The yearning chords of my heart.

Memories bring me company
E'en as far love embraces my soul.
Echoes of the many-formed past
Give happy promise for the future.
