A Mistake

by disquiet thoughts   Nov 22, 2004

I used to be the apple in your eyes,
Now I’m just the orange on your ground.
I used to mean the world to you,
Now you treat me like muck under your shoe.

Why did you do it,
Why don’t you care?
Why do you treat me,
Like I’m not even there?

As I sat there and wondered why,
You did those things that made me cry;
And with a twinge of guilt, I realized,
What drove you to this were all my lies.

I made a mistake,
I want you back,
For God’s sake,
Why did I do that?
