The Cane

by disquiet thoughts   Dec 31, 2006

The crack of the cane,
resonates fear in her heart.
each beat strikes her,
and every fibre to attention.
how each stroke killed her,
and she jumps as if scalded,
her wailing rises in decibels,
her fear as much.
and the stick whips the air,
with its sting so stark,
the flesh it kisses,
flinches as it parts.
and the others watch on,
their actions impaired.
the others listen on,
their timid hearts scared.
her loud beating heart,
echoes annoyingly off the roof.
beating to bursting,
wherein it met its doom.
now the timid hearts cower,
cause this is the end,
