The Stare

You stare me in the eyes
Tearing me apart
Telling me how I can or can’t dress?
Damn, I can wear what I want!

Sure, I might be different,
As you can obviously see
But why do I hear those obscene comments?
Why do those eyes stare at me?

I don’t care what your think
Nor do I care what you say,
But why do you care so much
About what I wear everyday?

Why do some people especially
Always just want to fit in?
I don’t see why I can’t stand out,
Is that such a sin?

I know you don’t like me
Because of what I wear
But is that any reason,
For me to care?

i like it, its so true for so many people, judged by how the dress, or what they look like, keep it up

that is a very outspoken poem! i liked it alot! keep up the good work! yeah i know what you mean when you say everyone trys so hard to fit in. my friend is exactly like that. i try to tell her but she never listens. unlike me i don't really care what people think about me. they can say all the crap they want to behind my back but i know what's true and what's not and that's all that matters! if people don't like you for who you are they surely don't deserve you! well please keep writing! i really enjoy reading your poems! =)

I LOVE this poem. I do exactly the same thing with my friends and we also always get stares and rude comments, among other things.

  • thanks, and I agree, parents shouldn't care what you wear, you are your own person, the way you dress is one of the few ways you can express yourself.
