Against All Odds

by Sir_William   Dec 2, 2004

The young man goes through the days
Just trying to find new ways
To give him a chance to survive
For one more day, to keep him alive

The young man's problems continue to persist
In this world he no longer wishes to exist
He lost all that was ever worth loving
And now he finds himself roving

The only thing he ever feared
Was losing the girl he held so dear
Now his life has no meaning
She was the only thing in this world worth seeing

Everyday he must strive
To gather the courage he needs to stay alive
He realizes in this life he cannot win
It doesn't seem to matter if he fights them till the end

A purpose he cannot find
They taken everything he held divine
And they try to make him submit
But to their will he shall never commit

In this man's life there has been much strife
Every time cut him deeper like a knife
This man soon learns to hate
And wishes he could change his fate

This man has become an outcast
As he hides behind these many masks
He hides his feelings deep inside
To them he will never confide

When he's out on the streets
He remembers the faces of everyone he meets
Seeing all their feelings in their eyes
Brings back memories that make him want to die

He lurks in the dark
Waiting to make his mark
For he will soon strike
When he finds the time is right

Now it is nearing the end
As he prepares to send
All of his enemies to the grave
There is no hope for them to be saved

As the old man goes to the fight
He sees there is no hope for him in sight
They will take away from him no more
One way or another, the old man will end this war

He shall bring the fight to there door
They gave him hell, now he will repay the favor
Because he can't take this anymore
And there's nothing else to live for

They took what pride remained inside
And against him they all connived
No longer will the old man moan
As they engrave his name upon a stone

No one will ever know
There is nothing left to show
The old man had the wisdom
To go up against the system
In a fight he could not win
The old man has been brought to his end

That was very powerful, where length was dwarfed by content. Excellent
