If They Only Knew

by Charlotte   Dec 5, 2004

If the only knew what their little girl did
In her dark and lonely room in the still of the night
Crying silent tears of despair and lost hope
Knife held tightly in her small hands
Poised high above her pale white wrist
Her body so covered in scars, a story of her life
Her hand shaking as the blade gets closer
Lower and lower it goes till it meets flesh
This particular wrist untouched by the knife
Before tonight it had seen no scars, no imperfections
But she soon would change that in a matter of minutes

If they only knew what their little girl was doing
As she pushed the sharp tip into her awaiting wrist
The room was completely silent as she did the deed
Except for the sound of her own flesh ripping
Pulling the blade higher and higher up her arm
This little girl wanted to make sure it was a permanent thing
So when her parents found her she couldn’t be saved
Curled up tightly on her bed soaking her sheets with blood
Her body becoming weaker as the hours passed by
By morning her body was a sight to be seen
With tears staining her face, blood caked on her lifeless body
But the strangest thing of all was the smile on her face
