It Claws for Me

by FTS Miles   Dec 8, 2004

It claws for me in the dark,
or in the misty ambiguity
of an early morning,
and all the moments when
"civilization" falls away to "other".

It claws for me then,
or more so dominates my sense
with scrapings of ancient days,
hatred love ecstasy anguish
bled upon a tableau of "real" world,
unseen, unheard, except by
those for whom it claws.

It does not hurt, this thing,
only claims a bit of me,
grips me tightly in talons
of intrigue and awareness,
promise and obligation,
so that the most I can ever
hope to gain is a transitory pause
before it claws again for me...
and I welcome its hold.

i really admired this piece of work. Your words flowed thoroughly and I liked the topic and quotations around the words we use to describe our world.

"or more so dominates my sense

    hatred love ecstasy anguish
bled upon a tableau of "real" world,
    unseen, unheard, except by
    those for whom it claws."

I completly admired that stance. It was powerful and intriguing, good job, beautiful piece.
