Mask

by Samantha lynn   Dec 9, 2004

You tooter
on the brink of insanity and stupidity
both daring what your heart keeps locked.
You walk through life-
making known your prescence
by the bitter feelings you invoke
on those who can't play the roles.
An actress in society
you false pretense blinds who you are
rather then letting your heart be bare
you blend yourself
to mirror the world.
Immaturity is the word they use
to define your actions
your bothersome qualities
but never
did they hurt me before.
Now-
your mask binds you
and places a halt
in the bond we shared;
it blinds you to knowing
you know nothing about me.
the proclaimed sister you shared
but yet only know the surface measures
of what's whithin my heart.
you would know how betrayal feels
if you had real friends and they disappeared
you would understand
how deep the root of love goes
to be burned time and time again by you
yet still wait in the shadows
to let you take the spotlight.
You would know
that deep down
you go through life
humble and exciting in apperance
but hallow of knowing common sense.
You would understand one day
the mask WILL slip my dear-
and you easy play
will hit a bump in the road
but you won't have anyone to run to
but yourself.
