Snowfall Sonnet

by N J Thornton   Dec 14, 2004

Twas a crisp evening, sky covered with haze
Creatures hibernate away stirring days
Nightfall begins the blanket starts to break
Falling star from above, spinning snowflake

Weeping silver snow on a winters night
Icy angel tears frozen pearly white
Broken glass crunches underfoot, sweet frost
Crystallized sparkle, world beneath is lost

Angels of winter, spray sugar around
Watching fairy lights fall straight to the ground
Frosty cotton sheet forming on the earth
For children of the morn to show its worth

Happy faces, a Jack Frost creation
Winter snow, a Christmas decoration

*Happy Holidays to everyone!*
