A Last Breath

by ¤©h€€®ƒüll¥♥©¥ñ!c@l¤   Dec 25, 2004

You bring my hand to yours
And grip them both tight
Please sweet grandmother, don’t leave
At least, not without a fight

Your clear blue eyes,
Filled with such disappointment and sorrow
Inform me of this boundary you’ve overcome
And that you will not see tomorrow

You tell me how much you loved me
And how your sickness has overcome you
It was your time to leave this world
And for me not to turn so depressingly blue

And your hand slips away from mine
You say your final goodbyes
You take your single last breath
And I never got to reply…

I never got to say
Since I was a little kid
How much I never thought you cared
But it turns out you really did

I never got to tell you
How much I loved you
But now these 3 simple words
Are much long overdue

I never got to enjoy
All you had meant to me
And now you’re gone
Your soul, set free

Now it’s too late to
Tell you all these things
But you deserve to be an angel
You deserve to have your wings

Your bright blue eyes close
And you go into a deep sleep
I’m sorry, I’ve disobeyed you
I’m sorry I can do nothing but weep…

I like that you wrote a piece dedicated to such an emotionally distorting subject. I also like the message that you sent across, beautiful way to put your pain into words while giving others hope to redeem before it's too late. Well done
