Making of an angel

by missy   Dec 30, 2004

An angel came down from the skies today
and she placed her wings on me
she stood back & with admiring eyes
said "You look so heavenly".
She said she thinks I have had enough
and I learned my lesson well
but now I have two choices to make
will I choose heaven or will it be hell?
I pondered on this question of hers
and thought hell is where I live now
so I told this celestial visitor,
"I chose heaven-show me how".
She said "First you must earn your wings,
and you have not done that yet".
"There are some important rules to follow,
these guidelines you must not forget".
"Do unto others as you'd have them do to you".
this is the most important one
for if you break this sacred vow
your wings will come undone.
"Keep your friends close & your enemies closer,
this I think you've figured out".
"Follow this throughout your life,
you'll find happiness, I don't doubt".
What she said started to make sense to me
I then asked why is it I must suffer
her reply she stated concise & quick
"Pain only makes the heart grow tougher".
But pain does not mean you have failed
it only means that you have grown
enough to finally realize
you can achieve anything on your own.
And then my vision began to fade
my angel had slipped away
I knew at that moment because of her
I'll have a better life starting today.
