By the time she has finished saving me

by paperdoll   Jan 2, 2005

When she stares at me
I become transparent,
all my petty woes and sorrows
on display in glass cases
for her leisure.

she leaves dirty fingerprints
as she weighs them against
scales of suffering
and inevitably
finds me lacking.

I become transparent
with all my foolish acid tears
disfiguring my skin
my spirit’s prison,
when she stares at me and rips away my right
to scar.

by the time she has finished saving me
all my fondest fears
have become out of reach,

residing in her shaking hands
and neither one of us
recognise the faces we have spent
so long hiding,
so long have we been drowning,
so long have we been fighting
for the sake of the other
for the sake of our own selfishness –

we forsake ourselves.

she stares at me
until I’m transparent.
she stares at me until
I’m something, and then
I’m something worthless
and then
she stares at me
until I’m nothing.

This weave impressed me of a pair of friends/sisters helping each other through the darkest of times.

Or I thought thereafter, and then I read it again, that it could also be percieved as oneself who speaks to themselves.
And thus succeeding either way to have managed to see this journey through into a new light.

And as your last fan wrote, this piece, as is your others, is brilliant.
