You Can Walk Away

by Corey Gentry   Jan 3, 2005

The minutes pass like hours
Sanity slipping by
My pain’s coming back again
From your smile, I die

This isn’t the first time
It won’t be the last
Unless I can end it tonight
It’ll be over so fast

This thought hasn’t crossed my mind
Since the two others fought below
But this pain is unbearable
This, I’m sure, you know

But that doesn’t stop you
from embracing his hand
Letting him hold you
From where I used to stand

It’s unclear to see
Through eyes of tears
What has it all meant
And how many more of the years

How many more
Octobers will I spend
Missing you in every way
Not loving you, I’ll pretend

You are nothing to me
And you don’t care
I saw it last night
In your long empty stare

As I confessed my love
Told you I missed you
Said I was sorry
And that’s all you could do
Stare with the eyes
That I will never forget
And walk away from me
From a man filled with regret
