I'm not normal...

“Normal” girls walk around wearing jeans and a shirt,
Or a tiny top and a mini skirt.
But I don’t wear what they wear,
I braid every inch of my hair,
I coat my eyes in make-up and put it on real thick,
I put on blue mascara and my bright red lipstick.
I write my own sayings on belts, tops and bags,
And wear them all to decorate all my boring rags,
I wear buttons and badges; safety pins in my ear,
Bright purple fishnets and cuffs with my gear.
I thread ribbons through my hair in a messy way,
I dress how I want to no matter what they say.

I know I’m not normal,
I never want to be,
Why should I be normal
When normal is not me?

When I go out people stare at what I’m wearing,
Some people start laughing, others stand there glaring.
I’ve never cared what they think,
They’re just strangers on the street,
But some of the things they say are anything but sweet.

People please instead of staring learn from what I do,
Instead of dressing like your friends,
Why not dress like you?
