Judgmental

by Erica Brown©   Jan 5, 2005

Flowers are the key to life,
Their meaning shines gallantly bright.
But not many people see,
Just how significant they are to us.

Most see the ones growing alone and tall,
But ones with little weeds are sometimes the best.

It doesn't matter if they grow in the vast grass,
Or on sidewalk cracks.

Most stand out for their color and beauty,
Not most see the ones fed to swine.

But no matter how tall,
How magnificent, divine,
Hideous or outrageous.

It's their appearance that shouldn't be seen,
Because of that no one sees at all about what they can do.
What if they could cure the impossible?
But still stood out as ugly?

People will always be judgmental,
To anything in the world.
Person, animal or plant.
It isn't right though,
To give things just one glance.

We still do it,
We don't look on the inside but the out.
But everyone would live happier,
And there wouldn't be any self doubt.

Not all my comments are about my father leaving us. Only two are . Everything else is about other people . You shouldn't say stuff if you don't know . And don't say sorry if you don't mean it.

Hmmm. This one's difficult. I like the way you've related your message metaphorically but I don't like the fact that you've rhymed in some stanzas and not in others. Personally I think that if you're going to write a poem in a particular style, you should stick to it. Although, sometimes rhyming and sometimes not can be classed as a particular style, I don't think it's very common. Again, could do with a little work. Well done for this though :) Take care.
