The World's Unanswered Question

by ♥-Sharon Ardern-♥   Jan 6, 2005

I tried so hard
To pick up and go on
Always searching
Always getting it wrong

I look around me
And see so much despair
Sadness and agony
Seem to be everywhere

If not a murder
Than the tsunami tragedy
There’s sexual abuse
And depressives like me

And while I’m looking
I’m always wondering why
We all put with it?
When in the end, we all simply die.

If you have religion
Then you have glorious salvation
But those without, like me
See no reason to ignore temptation

And I find myself
Amongst so many over souls
Looking into our hearts for love
But instead finding gaping black holes

And so where do we go
If not to hell for suicide
Then it’s hell on earth
Hell from which we can’t hide

If we run
It beats us there
If we stay
It is everywhere

So what do we do
All of us here?
Put up with the agony?
Put up with the fear?

For the sake of a distance hope
That may not even be real,
That someday heaven can be ours
I hear those words, but it never changes how I feel

I’m depressed. I’ve been abused
In every way possible. Children die
And we’re all of us on earth, at some point
Scream and scream the question … why?
