Why I lie

by SmileeItsBritt   Jan 7, 2005

I sit and I write
Whenever I am sad
I put up a facade
So you think it's not that bad
You see the scars are old,
But some of them are new
You just can't see them
They're hidden from your view
I hate to lie to you
To look you in the eyes
And tell you it's all better
That I no longer cry
But I'm only trying to protect you
I don't want to hurt you
Don't want you to worry
I'm sorry I can't tell the truth
To see the look in your eyes
When you see what I've done
As tears fill your eyes
I start to feel numb
I'm so sorry that I do this
I know you're concerned
I'll just do it again
I never seem to learn
I'm sorry but it seems
This may never end
But the reason that I lie
Is because you are my friend
I can't stand to cause you pain
I can't stand to make you cry
I hope you understand my friend,
Why I have to lie
