Set Free

He once promised me the moon
Swore it would be mine
And the stars. . .they were ours for the taking he'd say

He once gave me his kisses
Sweet as nectar they tasted
And tender as a babies touch

He once held me close
Whispering words of forever, painting a world we could only see
And gentle his hands would touch my soul, prying open my heart for the taking

He once gave me his love
Promising me the world and all it had to offer. . .

He once gave me a ring
Asking for my heart, telling me he's only whole with me
And I whispered a single word that changed it all

He once was mine and I his
But only I could see he loved her more then I
And I set him free

He took her hand forever
Looked my way and I saw the world shining in his eyes

He once promised me the moon.
